Coronavirus testing has been extended to children aged under five as of today.

Health secretary Matt Hancock made the announcement during yesterday’s daily coronavirus briefing. He said: “From tomorrow, we are expanding eligibility for testing to include the under-fives, so that now every single person who has symptoms of coronavirus can get a test, no matter their age.”

The announcement is part of a wider expansion of the government’s ‘track and trace’ system being rolled out today.

Under the voluntary programme, anyone with one or more of the symptoms of coronavirus should self-isolate immediately and book at test on the NHS website or by calling NHS 111.

Those who test positive will be contacted by the NHS test and trace service within 24 hours to establish who they have been in contact with and could have infected.

Anyone who has been in close contact with someone who has tested positive will be contacted and asked to self-isolate, even if they do not have symptoms.

You may have seen the announcement yesterday that all children over the age of five will be eligible for testing if they display symptoms of possible coronavirus: high temperature, a dry cough and now loss of taste or smell.

[A]ll those children and young people eligible to attend, and members of their households, will have access to testing if they display symptoms of coronavirus…. To access testing parents will be able to use the 111 online coronavirus service if their child is 5 or over. Parents will be able to call 111 if their child is aged under 5.”

Wizz Kids is planning a phased return to nursery from June 1st in line with latest government guidance. We are currently contacting all of our families to assess their individual needs for childcare and any risk factors associated with Covid 19.

Dear Parents, new starters and prospective families. We will be increasing our fees from June 2020 . The biggest change is the withdrawl of session pricing for the baby room. All bookings will now be charged by the hour or half hourly rate.

o   Under 2’s – £5.50 per hour
o   2-3 year olds – £5.15 per hour
o   3-4 year olds – £4.90 per hour
o   Afterschool Club – £ 4.15 per hour

We are moving towards a flat rate for all ages which we hope will be in place in the next 2/3 years.

Isolation, working at home, and home schooling, are all additional pressures on parents, and we know being a parent can have its challenges.  So, we have developed and gathered below a range of online materials and useful videos for parents and carers to support them in their parenting role.  These are all based on the evidence based parenting programmes that we use in Sheffield.
