15 hours Universal FEL for 3 and 4 year olds, the extended 15 hour for working parents and 2 year old FEL

Every child, the term after they are 3, is entitled to 15 hours of Free Learning (FEL). This covers 38 weeks a year and can be stretched to cover 50 weeks a year. This funding is called the universal 15 hours and equates to 570 hours a year. You can split these hours between more than one setting.

There is also available a further 15 hours, called the extended offer which equates to a total of 1,140 hours per year for eligible working parents with 3 and 4 year old’s, it is the same as the universal offer in that it can be stretched over 50 weeks and can be split over more than one setting.

If you are eligible for the extended offer and claim it at Wizz Kids there is a calendar monthly charge of £50 (£600 per year) to cover expenses such as snack, resources etc. as the funding we receive only covers the staff costs of childcare, for more information on this please speak to the manager.

Some families are entitled to 15 hours funding at 2 but you must be meet the eligibility criteria.

To see if you fit the criteria for either the extended 15 hours or the 2 year old funding please visit the governments web site Childcare Choices, there is a link on the home page of this website.

All children on FEL placements will need to start nursery placements between September – January. Children with Easter eligibility will need to pay from January beforehand or delay their start until the following September. This is to minimize a loss in revenue by `holding` places until April
