FUNDED EARLY LEARNING
Every child, the term after they are 3, is
entitled to 15 hours of Funded Early Learning (FEL). This is known as the universal offer as all 3/4 year old's are entitled to this regardless of their parents' circumstances. It covers 38 weeks a year, equating to 570 hours a year, and can be stretched to cover 50 weeks a year if required. You can split these hours at more than one setting.
There is further funding available for working parents, for children the term AFTER they are 9 months old (a total of 1,140 hours per year). Working parents' funding is subject to eligibility and must be applied for via HMRC before 1st January, 1st April or 1st September. It is the same as the universal offer in that it can be stretched over 50 weeks and can be split over more than one setting.
Some families are entitled to 15 hours of funding at 2, regardless of whether they are working, but you must meet the eligibility criteria.
