UNDER 2'S ROOM

UNDER 2'S ROOM

We know that your little ones are the most precious things in your lives, and we strive to care for all their needs and make your time away from them stress free.

We take babies from 3-24 months in this room. We have individual care plans to ensure their routine is similar to yours at home. We use the secure online software ‘Tapestry’ to share your children’s daily care diaries, observations and next steps and to pass on any messages from your child’s key person. We work on a ratio of 1 adult to 3 children under 2 years old.

Meal Times

At meal times we have a range of seating options depending on the child’s age and stage. However, they are all seated together to encourage social interaction and build on relationships. Meals will need to be provided by you.

Snack times are provided by us in the morning and afternoon. We offer a range of fruits and milk at this time.

Sensory Play

Sensory Play is very important at this age to encourage all round development.

  • It allows children to explore their senses, develop fine motor skills, communication and build relationships and a positive self-image.

  • Babies and children are sociable and curious, and they explore the world through relationships with others and through all their senses.

  • There are different sensory activities on offer every day In the Babyroom. These vary from messy play, baby yoga, baby massage, music and dance. There are a range of sensory resources around the room so the children can access them from wherever they are.

Routines

The nappy changing area is designed for your child’s safety during their intimate care routine. Nappies, wipes and any creams should be brought on your first settling in visit where we will keep them onsite in a clearly labelled box. We will let you know via Tapestry when they need to be replenished.

The sleep room is separate from the main room with 3 bunk cots. The bedding is assigned to a child at the start of the day and is then cleaned at the end of the day. On Your child’s first weeks you may want to bring your own bedding or a sleep suit so that your child has something that smells of home for their sleep times. At nap times the lights are turned off and relaxation music is played to make the room as relaxing as possible.

About The Room

The room is designed for babies, with low shelving, age-appropriate tables, chairs and resources. We have different textured flooring, ceiling mobiles and twinkling lights to encourage sensory development on every level. The room is flanked by low level windows which look out on to the school playing fields and beyond this the countryside.

Small World Area

This area encourages children to play with representations of familiar animals vehicles and begin to play imaginatively and rein act their experiences.

Role Play & Fine Motor Development Area

This area is designed to encourage imaginative play and physical development. Manipulation of shape sorters and puzzles encourage problem solving and development of muscles in the fingers, hands and arms.

Soft Play Area

This area is designed to encourage Gross motor development from crawling to pulling up to climbing. This area challenges the children’s abilities in a safe and secure way.

Relaxation & Book Area

This area offers an area to rest and relax in. Here the children can share a book with an adult or choose one to look at independently.

The books range from picture books and short stories.

Staff

Our Babyroom staff are all trained to a high standard and have your children’s wellbeing and development at the forefront of their minds.

Tara is our room leader and along with her team she provides a holistic approach to encouraging your child’s development. Our key person system means that one of these members of staff will be in charge of your child’s development journal on Tapestry and communication to home.

Drop Offs & Pick Ups

To make drop off and pick ups easier, on your settling visits please bring:

  • Nappies, wipes and any nappy rash cream to keep at nursery.
  • Sleep suit or bedding for nap times.
  • A tub of the formula milk you use.
  • A change of clothes for any accidents, spare bibs and a puddle suit.
  • Slippers (the room is a no-shoe area for health and safety reasons).
  • These items will be kept at nursery in your child’s drawer or clearly labelled. We will let you know when supplies need replenishing.
